TDR Nova ( ) you could use this as a great sounding 4 band eq as well or a dynamic eq as well. Which can be good or bad, in, let's say, your mastering chain. But it keeps that "different" compression sound that ReaComp has. So yeah, it's a decent sounding multiband compressor.

Mostly though, these presets are a good learning tool on how to properly deess with a multiband compressor. ReaXcomp ( ) and TDR Nova ( ) have some good (hit or miss) presets. AirWindows DeEss ( ) about 70% of the time I can get solid DeEssing from this plugin, although I prefer automation for deEssing. This is the only plugin I did not test out. It's top of the line, I've used many different bus compressors and none are objectively better than this. TDR Kotelnikov ( ) Use this bad boy for Drums, Bus and Mastering. Haven't had much success with it as a drum compressor Works well for Vocals, Bass, toms and snare. ReaComp ( ) Honestly, it's a different sounding compressor. It does the job it's supposed to with Vocals and Bass, not very good on drums, IMO. MCompressor ( ) Sounds like you're run of the mill good compressor. The Fabfilter compressor is so well done, you can use it for any application (Vocals, Bass, ect) including drums, which is rare, as, IMO, most compressors aren't that versatile.

I tipically use Fabfilter Pro-Q2 for that, as it displays very fluidly what is going on in the sound. By that, I mean watching (with a fluid EQ display.) how much of the bass and kick is sounding, compared to other elements in the mix. If you can, try to get some reference tracks that have the sound you are looking for and "study" them.
